Bay Area Filipino Food Manufacturer Embraces Blooming Green Technology

PITTSBURG, Calif., September 20, 2019 -​​​​ Ramar Foods, America's #1 Filipino Food company, has reached its milestone 50th-year anniversary in 2019. The company's sixth decade has the third-generation owners energized about maintaining their signature flavors while powering it all with the latest fuel cells from Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE).

In a partnership that began in 2011, Ramar Foods had been utilizing Bloom Energy Servers to provide primary power to one of its manufacturing plants. This last July, Bloom delivered its latest-generation fuel cell technology, providing the same 200 kilowatts of clean power to Ramar's facilities while improving efficiency and operating costs. Fuel cells take natural gas and generate clean energy without combustion, leading to higher energy output with fewer emissions. The new and improved servers will help Ramar maintain its commitment to the environment while investing any savings back into its people.

Since 2013, Ramar Foods has prevented nearly one million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions with the help of Bloom Energy. With the new upgraded system, Ramar Foods is expected to decrease its carbon footprint from energy use by an additional 12%. With the new, upgraded Bloom Servers, Ramar Foods is now expected to offset 330,000 lbs of CO2 annually, the equivalent of planting 2,475 trees each year. Bloom's upgraded servers also use 40% less space than the prior model, while providing the same clean energy Ramar relies on to make its products.

California is known for its historical cases of drought and Ramar Foods is consciously taking an active role in conserving water as the new upgraded energy servers consume virtually no water in normal operation. With nearly a dozen brands of different Filipino and Asian frozen foods, from lumpia to longganisa sausages to their signature Ube ice cream under their umbrella, it has always been Ramar Foods' intent that they keep putting out the best products that they can for consumers, all while taking responsibility for their impact on the environment.

All these savings that are being made from the energy servers are then allocated towards a better focus for the company, such as product quality and producing more innovative flavors. San Francisco, CA -- As they celebrate their 50th anniversary, Ramar foods has expanded distribution. The expansion included a variety of brands now available at selected Walmart stores. Among the selected Walmart stores named are around Filipino enclave including Vallejo, California and Henderson, Nevada.

 

The brands included in the placement are Orientex Lumpia, Turo Turo, Magnolia Meats and Magnolia Ice Cream where shoppers can enjoy a variety of Filipino breakfast meats, ice cream in scrounds and milk bars and lumpia which is mostly what they are known for.

Bestaste Dimsum Discovered at Undscvrd SF

Located in the beautiful heart of San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, UndiscoveredSF has given us another opportunity to be able to, once again, provide Bestaste’s delicious Shumai and Siopao.

 

UndiscoveredSF is a creative night market put together for the community on a monthly basis to be able to create platforms for emerging artists and merchants who celebrates the amazingly rich culture heritage of the SoMa Pilipinas district. And what better way to bring a community together than with the celebration of food!

 

Excited and ready to go, Bestaste’s team who worked the booth welcomed anyone and everyone that took any interest in the food provided with a warm smile. Fresh right from the food steamers, Bestaste’s shumai and siopao, with the option of topping it with soy sauce to add in an extra kick of flavor, was a great choice of eatery as each warm bite of either the shumai or siopao was enough to fill the body with warmth against the cool, chilly weather of San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood.

 

With UndiscoveredSF being open to the public every third Saturday of the month, there’ll always be an opportunity to stop by our booth next month (October) and check out our delicious shumai and siopao. Come check us out if you ever happen to be by the neighborhood!

Revellers at Pittsburg Seafood Festival try Ube ice cream for the first time and liked it!

Right by the beautiful Pittsburg Marina, the historical Pittsburg Seafood and Music Festival is officially hosting its 34th year of celebration this year since it was very first held in 1984. And with a festival as big as this, it was only right that we take part among all of the celebration and spread happiness with a bowl of our delicious Magnolia Ice Cream!

There were a lot of activities and  entertainment lined up, consisting of many different performers and a  variety of foods and beverages prepared for the event goers to enjoy, we thought it would be perfect to provide them with delicious ice cream to be able to top everything right off! Seeing the natural happy reactions that our first time customers make when they take their very first bite of our Ube ice cream was amazing! And with a smile on their faces after a spoonful, that’s when we knew that we were able to achieve what we wanted. Nothing else provides us with any more motivation than seeing customers’ and satisfaction with the foods that we provide for them.

With the time of the month signifying the very near end of summer, it was a great way to celebrate with a bowl of delicious ice cream, great crowd and great vibe during the festival.
