A Family Business
In the 1960's Ramar Foods, then known as Orientex Foods, was an importer and distributor of frozen and dry goods. At the time, the business was made up of only a few employees, mostly family. Some worked in the office, and the rest, mainly the kids, were out making deliveries. One of those make deliveries was Primo Quesada. With the growing Asian market in California and the United States, it was clear to Primo and the rest of the family that there was an increasing demand for high quality, authentic, ethnic foods. From there, the idea was to turn rare, exotic fruits and flavors into ice cream for all to enjoy. And when Primo took the helm as president, the company's success fueled the transition from importer to manufacturer of Filipino and Asian meats, eggrolls, and desserts.

A New Flavor Orientex Foods was renamed to Ramar Foods International, after Primo's parents, Ramon and Maria. Primo decided that Ramar Foods would be different from the rest. The secret is in the recipe. The best recipes aren't made; they're discovered. Many of the recipes we use are authentic right down to the smallest detail. With some of the finest flavors in the world to offer, the only thing left to do was to make it all happen. The USDA meat manufacturing plant was opened in 1989 followed by a larger ice cream plant in Pittsburg, California.
